A 29-year-old Moroccan man, identified as M.E., escaped from police at Bologna Airport on Saturday just before boarding a flight back to Morocco. The escape occurred during the enforcement of an expulsion order issued by the prefect of Venice. M.E. climbed over a safety fence along one of the airport's slopes to evade officers from Gorizia (northeastern Italy), who had taken him from a Detention and Repatriation Center in Gradisca. In an attempt to lose his pursuers, he set fire to nearby brush, which firefighters later extinguished. Authorities have since released his photo and personal details, urging the public to report any sightings.
