The coach of the Moroccan women's national football team, Jorge Vilda Rodriguez, affirmed on Tuesday that the Moroccan players are fully prepared to compete in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2024), scheduled to take place from July 5 to 26, 2025, in the Kingdom, and are eager to kick off the tournament. «The team is in great spirits, and the players are eager to start the competition. We have prepared well for these matches, and the group is very cohesive. There's a cheerful atmosphere», he told MAP, on the sidelines of a training session held by the Moroccan women's team at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé. «Group A, in which we will be competing (also including Senegal, Zambia, and the DR Congo, Editor's note), is the toughest among the three pools of this CAN», he noted, emphasizing that the national team, expected to be backed by strong home support, has prepared extensively through several friendly matches. He expressed his «satisfaction with the current level of the team, which has evolved significantly», adding that «the players are working hard to deliver a good performance at this CAN and are eager to win». «We are ready and excited to start the competition. We approach the tournament with a lot of seriousness and will give it our all», said national team midfielder Elodie Nahla Nakach in a similar statement. Meanwhile, Atlas Lionesses captain Ghizlane Chebbak stressed that the players are aware winning the CAN won't be easy, as all the participating teams are strong and determined to claim the title. The Moroccan national team will face Zambia in the tournament's opening match, scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at 9:00 PM.
