After a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Zambia in their opening match, the Atlas Lionesses are set to face DR Congo on Wednesday in Rabat for their second Group A fixture in the 2024 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2024). Morocco will be aiming to secure all three points and take the lead in the group standings. They'll face a DR Congo side reeling from a heavy 4–0 defeat to Senegal, and will need to capitalize on that momentum while remaining focused. Buoyed by a promising performance against Zambia, the Moroccan team will have to draw on all their strengths to secure a win and stay on course for the next round. Elsewhere in the group, the result of the Zambia vs. Senegal match could work in Morocco's favor, especially if it ends in a draw, giving the Lionesses a psychological edge heading into the final group stage match. For Morocco's head coach Jorge Vilda, the mental game will be just as important as tactics. «We know this second match will be tough. DR Congo will fight with everything they have because they're still on zero points. We have one, which puts us in a slightly better position, but I expect a very different DR Congo team from the one that played against Senegal», he said during Tuesday's pre-match press conference. «The players know exactly what to expect. They're well aware of the game plan and understand DR Congo's strengths and weaknesses. We're going for the win — and that gives us even more motivation and belief», he added. Group A currently sees Senegal leading with three points, followed by Morocco and Zambia with one point each, while DR Congo sits at the bottom with none. The 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco, features 12 teams divided into three groups. Group B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana Group C: South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania
