An elite Algerian military delegation embarked on a three-day mission to Mauritania, as reported by Nouakchott-based media on Friday, July 18. The delegation visited the National Command and Staff School (ENCM), which operates under the Mauritanian army's General Staff. According to a statement from the Mauritanian military, this visit is «part of the military cooperation between Mauritania and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria». In April, Algeria and Mauritania had formalized two cooperation agreements in Algiers focused on defense. «The first pertains to defense matters, while the second involves the protection of classified information», the Mauritanian army clarified. This Algerian military visit to Nouakchott follows a prior visit by members of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR), who specialize in military intelligence. It's noteworthy that a FAR delegation had undertaken a working visit to Mauritania from April 22 to 24.
