South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is intensifying efforts to bring the Polisario Front out of its isolation on the African stage, rallying ministers and senior officials from his government, all members of the ANC. The latest moves in this diplomatic push took place in Cape Town and Accra. On the sidelines of the first African Summit on Investment in the Water Sector, held in South Africa on August 13–14, the Polisario delegation, led by its so-called «Minister of Foreign Affairs» Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, met with South African Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina, who is also an ANC member. Meanwhile, in Ghana's capital, Accra, Polisario representative Abdelkader Taleb Omar met with Jeffrey Radebe, President Ramaphosa's envoy, during the African Parties Summit. Radebe, a former influential minister, is also an ANC member. The Polisario's press agency has not reported any additional meetings with African political groups, apart from a photo published on August 13 showing Taleb Omar alongside the leader of Algeria's Front de l'Avenir party, which facilitated the delegation's participation in the Accra event. Since former South African President Jacob Zuma recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, the ANC under Ramaphosa's leadership has stepped up its support for the Polisario.
