The Moroccan Organization for Human Rights (OMDH) announced on Saturday its decision to join as a civil party in several recent high-profile pedophilia cases that have surfaced in the media in recent weeks. In a statement shared with Yabiladi, the NGO's executive board expressed «deep concern over the series of incidents involving sexual assaults on children in Azrou and Tetouan, during the Moulay Abdellah festival in El Jadida, and at a summer camp in Ras El Ma». By actively engaging in these cases, the organization aims to secure «fair justice» and reparations for the young victims involved. OMDH's statement underscores the need for a «thorough investigation» into these grave offenses, stressing that the minor victims «must receive comprehensive protection and social, psychological, and legal support». The association has called for investigations to be «expanded, expedited, and intensified, especially in cases where suspects remain at large», with particular emphasis on the collective rape incident during the Moulay Abdellah festival. Additionally, the NGO has urged relevant institutions to «provide comprehensive protection and social, psychological, and medical support to the child victims of these abuses». The organization also called on Moroccan media to «step up campaigns aimed at families and children to raise awareness about the severity of sexual assaults and harassment, encouraging them to break the silence surrounding these crimes and combat them». Simultaneously, the OMDH has demanded that «the justice system impose harsher penalties on anyone found guilty of these egregious sexual assaults against children». The organization assures that it is fully mobilized to be «at the disposal of the victims and their families, offering support, legal guidance, and assistance as needed».
