Three weeks have passed since the passing of Jamal Eddine Al Qadiri Boutchich, yet the zaouia remains without a new leader. The late leader's sons, Mounir and Mouad, are locked in a struggle for succession. The dispute continues unresolved. Amidst this leadership uncertainty, the zaouia announced on Thursday, August 28, the postponement of the «World Sufism Meeting» to an unspecified future date. Originally set for September 1 to 6 in Madagh, the spiritual headquarters of the Tariqa, the event was postponed due to the death of Sheikh Jamal Eddine Al Qadiri Boutchich on August 9. This 20th edition, typically held under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, will be rescheduled. Since its launch in 2005, the forum has been presided over by Mounir, the eldest son of Jamal Eddine, who is now among those vying for the zaouia's leadership. It is worth noting that King Mohammed VI met with the late Jamal Eddine on January 20, 2017, at the royal palace in Casablanca. This meeting, following the death of his father Hamza Al Qadiri Boutchich on January 18, 2017, was seen as a gesture of royal endorsement.
