After qualifying at the national tournament of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) on May 31 in Casablanca, two Moroccan teams are representing the country at the international WRO Open Europe competition, held from September 2 to 5, 2025, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Astrominds, a team from a public institution made up of two to three students and a coach, is competing in the Future Innovators Senior category (ages 14–19). Their challenge is to «develop an innovative robotic solution to address a real-world problem, in line with the annual theme», according to a statement from the LOOP for Science & Technology association. In this category, participants are free to use any type of hardware and software, and must present their project to a jury through both a demonstration and a presentation. Astrominds has designed «an AI-equipped assistance robot for the elderly, with support from STMicroelectronics and ASMA Invest», the statement added. The second team, Pentapus Jr, is competing in the RoboMission Junior category (ages 11–15). Their challenge is to build «an autonomous robot capable of completing a series of predefined missions on a competition field», with a focus on coding skills, robotic engineering, strategy, teamwork, creativity, and computational thinking. The WRO Open Europe brings together «the best educational robotics teams from around the world to compete in technological and scientific challenges». Morocco's participation showcases the growing involvement of young Moroccan talent in robotics, science, and technology, and highlights their ability to meet international standards. Since 2018, LOOP for Science & Technology has been dedicated to promoting STEAM education, science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, among children and young people in Morocco.
