Morocco has overtaken Spain to become the European Union's second-largest tomato supplier this year, behind only the Netherlands, according to data from the EU's statistical office. Since 2016, Morocco's tomato exports to the EU have grown by 40.66%, while Spanish sales have dropped by 35.23% over the same period. Dutch shipments have also declined, by 19.48%. Morocco now holds the second position with 568.37 million kilograms of tomatoes exported (19.63% of the total), worth €1.04 billion, at an average price of €1.83/kg. The Netherlands remains in first place with 780.22 million kilograms (26.95% of the total), valued at €1.47 billion, averaging €1.88/kg. Spain ranked third, exporting 522.52 million kilograms (18.05% of the total), valued at €1.02 billion, with an average price of €1.94/kg. France followed with 199.69 million kilograms, worth €415.29 million, at an average price of €2.08/kg.
