Morocco's ambassador to France, Samira Sitaïl, joined a delegation of Arab diplomats in visiting the Palestinian mission in Paris. This visit followed President Emmanuel Macron's historic announcement at the 80th UN General Assembly, where he officially recognized the State of Palestine. «At this pivotal moment, the Ambassadors from Arab League member states, including Samira Sitaïl, conveyed their unwavering support and solidarity» with their Palestinian counterpart, Hala Abou Hassira, as reported by the Moroccan mission on platform X. The delegation, standing in solidarity with the head of the Palestinian diplomatic mission, donned keffiyehs as a symbolic gesture of support. This initiative comes in the wake of France and several other nations recognizing the State of Palestine on Monday, September 22, in a bid to pressure Israel to halt the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch underscored Rabat's position advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and Gaza as an integral part of the state. He emphasized the importance of incorporating an economic dimension into the peace process. Akhannouch further asserted that this solution «can neither be postponed nor marginalized, but must instead become a moral obligation and an immediate political requirement». He stressed the necessity of paving the way for a credible political solution and establishing a clear timeline to secure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
