The Social Sectors Committee of the House of Representatives will meet on Wednesday, October 1, in Rabat, with Health and Social Protection Minister Amine Tahraoui in attendance. Requested by several parliamentary groups, the session will address «the current state of the healthcare system and the measures being taken to accelerate its reform, with the aim of guaranteeing citizens' right to healthcare». The meeting comes amid daily protests that began over the weekend of September 27–28. In cities across Morocco, Generation Z demonstrators have taken to the streets to demand better public services in education and healthcare, along with stronger action against corruption. Often dispersed or prevented by authorities, the protests echo long-standing grievances over the state of public health. In cities such as Agadir, Tiznit, Meknès, Taounate, and Essaouira, residents have repeatedly denounced the quality of care in provincial and regional hospitals. Against this backdrop, Minister Tahraoui recently visited Agadir, after which officials at the Hassan II Regional Hospital Center were dismissed.
