Unlike the Polisario Front, Algeria has remained silent on the implementation of the new agricultural agreement between Morocco and the European Union, which covers products originating from Western Sahara. This silence stands in stark contrast to the earlier activism of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which had mobilized against the EU's response to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) rulings issued on October 4, 2024, in favor of the Polisario's appeal. At the time, Algerian diplomacy summoned EU ambassadors to explain their countries' support for the partnership with Morocco. Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf also told the press that «all these fabrications (EU support for Rabat, ed.) can be explained by the strategic relations with the Kingdom of Morocco, shared interests with that country, and growing ambitions to seize the riches of Western Sahara». Algeria has also remained silent on the Trump administration's recent call encouraging both private and public American companies to invest in the Sahara. The announcement was made on September 24 in New York by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, following a meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. Summoning foreign ambassadors or recalling its own diplomats to defend the Polisario's interests appears to be a thing of the past.
