The national coach, Walid Regragui, expressed his satisfaction with the Atlas Lions' performance in their match against Congo on the 10th and final day of Group E of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. He acknowledged that the encounter was not easy but emphasized that Morocco continues to learn and improve in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco 2025). Speaking at the post-match press conference, which followed Morocco's 1–0 victory, Regragui noted that against teams adopting a low defensive block, the key is to find the breakthrough to score and secure the three points. He highlighted that his players managed to do so through a well-executed action down the right flank, culminating in a goal by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 63rd minute, not from a set piece. He explained that Congo's defensive approach forced the national team into periods of sterile ball possession. The coach nevertheless praised his players' efforts, which enabled Morocco to set a new world record of 16 consecutive international victories. Despite this achievement, Regragui stressed that both the team and fans are now focused on AFCON 2025, adding: «Our goal is clear, to be ready from the first match to win the title». Meanwhile, Congo's coach Fabrizio Cesana said that the purpose of such encounters is to compete against high-level players and gain valuable experience for the future of Congolese football.
