The Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, concluded her visit to Morocco on Tuesday, reaffirming the organization's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom in the field of migration management. «Morocco, a champion country of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), is a vital partner and a model of leadership when it comes to migration», Pope said, commending Morocco's «human-centered vision» that demonstrates how well-managed mobility can foster development, resilience, and solidarity. During her visit to Rabat, Pope met with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, as well as with migrants to discuss their access to protection, documentation, and essential services. She highlighted Morocco's balanced approach, which expands legal migration pathways, reinforces border management without undermining rights, and promotes reintegration programs to help returnees rebuild their lives. In Casablanca, Pope visited the «AFCON of Unity and Inclusion» project, which uses sport to promote dialogue and youth leadership. She also praised Morocco's early support for IOM's new Resilience Campaign, underscoring its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities and creating opportunities for youth through training and partnerships.
