A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-400 landed on Sunday at Marrakech-Menara International Airport, marking the official launch of the first-ever direct flight connecting the Moroccan city to Atlanta. This new route, operated three times a week, places Marrakech on the map of the world's largest air hub, linking the Red City to more than 125 American destinations, according to a statement from the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). For the ONMT, which initiated this strategic partnership with Delta Air Lines, the launch represents a concrete step forward in strengthening ties between Morocco and the North American market. Following New York and Montreal, the new Marrakech–Atlanta connection becomes the third direct gateway from North America to Morocco, the statement noted. The route is also Delta Air Lines' first service to North Africa, a move that highlights the growing interest of American travelers in Morocco. The launch further expands Morocco's fast-growing air connectivity. In addition to Royal Air Maroc flights from Casablanca to New York, Washington, and Miami, the Kingdom now boasts three North American hubs directly linked to Marrakech: Montreal (Air Transat), New York (United Airlines), and Atlanta (Delta Air Lines). The American market holds strong potential. In 2024, more than 402,000 U.S. tourists visited Morocco, a 7% increase compared to 2023. Data from the first half of 2025 confirm this positive trend, with the ONMT setting a medium-term goal of reaching one million American visitors. With this new connection, the ONMT reaffirms its ambitious strategy to firmly establish Morocco among the world's top travel destinations. This includes expanding point-to-point direct routes, strengthening the country's presence in key markets, and diversifying its visitor base to enhance Morocco's international appeal and resilience. Founded in 1925 and headquartered in Atlanta, Delta Air Lines operates over 5,000 daily flights to more than 300 destinations across six continents.
