The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) has announced the permanent closure of the Aïn Borja local prison. This decision follows a technical report from a specialized laboratory, which found the building to be in a severe state of disrepair, endangering the safety of inmates, staff, and visitors. In a statement, the DGAPR explained that, based on these findings, the Aïn Borja prison was evacuated on October 24. The inmates have been transferred to other facilities, taking into account their social conditions and the capacities of the receiving prisons.
