The Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM 2025) will honor four leading figures in world cinema, celebrating both artistic excellence and diversity. The 22nd edition, set for November 28 to December 6, will pay tribute to Moroccan actress Raouya, American actress and director Jodie Foster, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and Egyptian actor and producer Hussein Fahmi. Fatima Harandi, known as Raouya, is hailed as a «living memory of Moroccan cinema», recognized for her depth and emotional range in films by Narjiss Nejjar, Noureddine Lakhmari, and Laïla Marrakchi. «She has managed to impose a rare presence, blending dignity, tenderness, and intensity», said organizers. «What joy and emotion to be celebrated in my country, in the ochre city», Raouya shared. Jodie Foster, a two-time Oscar winner, will be celebrated for embodying «the freedom and intelligence of acting». Organizers described her as one of Hollywood's most respected figures, capable of moving «from roles of extraordinary dramatic power to directing visionary works». Foster will also present her new French-language film, Private Life by Rebecca Zlotowski, during the festival. Guillermo del Toro, the «storyteller of shadows and light», will be honored for his masterful exploration of fantasy and humanity. A three-time Oscar winner for The Shape of Water and Pinocchio, he will return to Marrakech to present his deeply personal project, Frankenstein. Finally, Hussein Fahmi, a veteran of over fifty years in Arab cinema, will be recognized for his lasting contribution as an actor, director, and producer. «Having participated in the very first edition, the idea of reuniting with colleagues and friends from around the world fills me with energy and enthusiasm», he said. This year's FIFM promises to celebrate cinema «in all its expressions, uniting audiences, reflecting the world's diversity, and reaffirming Morocco's unique place in international film».
