In recent days, an Israeli national with a criminal record was apprehended at Casablanca Airport after attempting to enter Morocco, despite having been previously deported from the country. The man, in his thirties, had drawn the attention of Moroccan intelligence services. He was released from an Israeli prison last year after being implicated in a serious criminal case in the country's central region, although the case was eventually closed without formal charges. According to a Moroccan security source cited by Israeli media, the individual had previously attempted to enter Morocco, but airport authorities identified his criminal background and denied him entry. «After verifying his identity, it became clear that he was a dangerous individual with a history of criminal activity in Israel», the source said. «We received information from Israeli police about his record and informed him that Morocco does not welcome individuals of this nature. He was then deported». Just a few days later, the same man returned and attempted to enter Morocco once more via Casablanca Airport, where he was detained immediately upon arrival. «There were discussions about his attempts to bribe or mislead officers», the Moroccan source added. «But he was arrested immediately, anyone who tries to circumvent the law faces extremely strict detention conditions».
