Morocco is committed to establishing a national women's rugby team across all age categories, a discipline experiencing rapid global growth, according to Morad El Arf, general manager of women's teams at the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation (FRMR). In a statement to MAP, he explained that the federation is currently forming women's rugby squads in both the 15s and 7s formats for all categories: seniors, U20, and juniors. A first gathering of senior and junior players took place from November 7 to 9 in Lormont (southwest France) as part of a talent-search initiative, he noted. The Moroccan delegation was hosted by the Normand Rugby Club, which provided access to high-level facilities, including a synthetic field and specialized equipment. El Arf emphasized that a strong communication effort was deployed to reach out to potential candidates and their managers. Around forty senior players competing at a high level in France, across the Elite 1, Elite 2, and Fédérale 1 divisions, have been identified. He added that promising profiles have also been spotted in Spain and England, while talent discovery efforts will continue within the Moroccan championship. The official stated that Morocco is preparing to join the ranks of nations competing in international women's rugby events, including the Africa Cup of Nations and the Arab Cup. He affirmed that the Kingdom has the necessary expertise to develop the sport. Approximately thirty young women from Morocco and from French clubs such as Stade Bordelais, Clermont, Pau, Toulouse, and Libourne took part in the three-day training camp at Normand Rugby Club, as part of the FRMR's effort to build the country's first national women's rugby team.
