Following his frustration over being left out of the high-level talks between Spain and Morocco, the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, received a call from the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, on Friday. The call aimed to brief him on the outcomes of the bilateral meeting held in Madrid between the two governments. A statement from the Spanish Foreign Ministry revealed that Albares provided Clavijo with a copy of the joint declaration and the agreements reached during the thirteenth session of the meeting. The statement highlighted the central government's commitment to keeping the Canary Islands authorities informed about matters concerning the archipelago. The statement emphasized that both parties agreed to continue coordination through working groups on issues that directly impact the interests of the Canary Islands. Additionally, the minister assured the regional government president that his forthcoming visit to Morocco would receive all necessary support to ensure its success, akin to previous visits.
