DR ‹ › In the wake of torrential rains, El Jorf, a city in Errachidia Province, has been left reeling as several mud houses in Ksar El Monkara collapsed due to a sudden surge from the Batha River. Reliable sources indicate that the river abruptly altered its course, channeling its waters into residential zones and leading to the destruction of approximately 20 homes. This unexpected deluge forced numerous families to spend the night under the open sky. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries among the local population. In response, affected residents staged a protest, directing their frustration at the owners of certain large agricultural estates. They accused these landowners of manipulating the river's path for personal gain, which they allege has redirected floods toward their homes. Residents highlighted that this marks the second consecutive year such flooding has occurred.
