DR ‹ › inwi announced on December 16, the landing of the MEDUSA submarine cable in Nador, a major milestone for Morocco's digital sovereignty and national digital inclusion. The new landing point places the Kingdom at the center of key connectivity routes linking North Africa, Europe, and the wider Mediterranean. The operator secured a 1,416 km very high-capacity link from Medusa Submarine Cable System, connecting Nador to Marseille. This additional route strengthens Morocco's international connections, enhances infrastructure redundancy, improves the reliability of global communications, and increases network resilience amid growing digital usage and rising data flows. With this strategic project, inwi reinforces its role as a key player in Morocco's digital infrastructure development and supports the ambitions of Morocco Digital 2030, aiming to build a sovereign, innovative, and inclusive digital ecosystem capable of supporting cloud services, AI, and national digital transformation. MEDUSA, with a capacity of up to 24 Tbps and an open-access model, is the largest submarine system in the Mediterranean, spanning over 8,700 km and linking 19 landing points across the Maghreb, Europe, the Middle East, and Egypt. Its first phase—connecting Marseille, Bizerte, and Nador, will enter service early next year, with full deployment expected in 2027.
