DR ‹ › In line with the instructions of King Mohammed VI, the Ministry of the Interior, in close coordination with various government departments and relevant institutions, has strengthened preparedness measures to address the potential impact of weather fluctuations expected during the 2025–2026 winter season. The Ministry stated that regional governors and provincial authorities have been instructed to reinforce mechanisms for accurate on-the-ground monitoring of weather conditions, ensure strong coordination among all stakeholders, and adopt proactive measures to protect the population and mitigate possible damage. According to the statement, a command and monitoring center has been activated within the Ministry of the Interior, along with the creation and mobilization of regional vigilance and tracking committees. These actions fall within the national plan to manage the effects of cold waves during the 2025–2026 winter season. The plan, the statement noted, has been updated with new field data, expanded its scope of intervention, and diversified its tools to ensure more efficient and effective responses in affected areas. The plan targets large segments of the population living in several rural villages across 28 provinces and prefectures, with the aim of supporting affected residents and providing all forms of assistance to alleviate the difficulties caused by severe weather. This support includes continuous on-site monitoring, while taking into account the specific characteristics and risks of each region. The Ministry added that its central and local services, together with all relevant sectors, have increased readiness levels by continuously monitoring field conditions, ensuring the regular supply of essential goods and heating materials, mobilizing logistical equipment, and pre-positioning it near roads likely to be cut off, to prevent or lift isolation when necessary. These measures also include the distribution of food aid, blankets, and firewood to targeted populations; immediate assistance to people in critical or emergency situations; maintaining road and telecommunications access; and ensuring the supply of livestock feed in affected areas to protect animal resources.
