DR ‹ › Police in Nador arrested a 34-year-old man on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in a case related to tampering with automated data processing systems and the illegal rerouting of international phone calls. The arrest followed a complaint filed by the legal representative of a national internet and mobile telecommunications operator, prompting the judicial police to open a thorough investigation supported by technical and field inquiries. These investigations led to the identification of a scheme in which the suspect allegedly received international calls and rerouted them as domestic calls using sophisticated digital techniques, before being apprehended in Nador. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect exploited electronic equipment and information systems to hack national telecommunications networks, converting international calls into local ones in order to profit from the price difference between the two. A search of the apartment used by the suspect resulted in the seizure of several national SIM cards, a laptop, electronic devices, and various data storage media believed to have been used in carrying out these illegal activities. The suspect has been placed in police custody pending further judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, with the aim of identifying any additional ramifications of the case and establishing the full scope of the acts attributed to him.
