DR ‹ › On Tuesday, the U.S. Congress hosted a ceremony celebrating nearly 250 years of diplomatic ties between Morocco and the United States. «It is an exceptional strategic alliance with the Kingdom of Morocco. A remarkable journey, rooted in history, strengthened by trust, and guided by a shared vision», declared Morocco's ambassador to Washington, Youssef Amrani. «I extend my sincerest thanks to the senators, the bipartisan members of Congress, and the American representatives whose presence and words so powerfully attest to the unparalleled depth and strength of the Moroccan-American relationship, as well as to the leaders of Project Legacy Morocco who made this evening possible.» Youssef Amrani The event saw the participation of several American lawmakers, including Republican Senator Joe Wilson and Democratic Representative Jimmy Panetta. Both legislators are backing a bill that seeks to classify the Polisario Front as a terrorist organization. As a reminder, Democrat Brad Schneider and Republican Joe Wilson, co-chairs of the Congressional Morocco Caucus, introduced a resolution in Congress on March 25. This proposal aims to commemorate, in 2027, the 250th anniversary of Morocco's recognition of the United States' independence. This historic acknowledgment was granted in December 1777 by the Alaouite Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah, known as Mohammed III.
