DR ‹ › The Moroccan rock band Meteor Airlines is set to host two electrifying concerts this month to commemorate their tenth anniversary and the Amazigh New Year 2976. In celebration of Yennayer, the Tinghir-based band marks «a symbolic milestone» since their formation in 2016, reuniting with Moroccan fans after a prolonged hiatus. The concerts are scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cinéma Renaissance in Rabat and January 13 at Meydene in Marrakech. These events promise a performance «at the crossroads of rock riffs, Amazigh rhythms, and a unique stage identity». According to a statement, the band aims to celebrate Morocco's rich cultural tapestry with «lyrics primarily in Tamazight and a visual universe inspired by traditions, notably the Azennar, an Amazigh cape». In their latest album, Agdal (2024), Meteor Airlines explores «current themes related to environmental preservation, climate resilience, water scarcity, biodiversity, and transmission», the statement reveals. The name 'Agdal' also signifies «the Amazigh concept of sustainable community resource management, a dimension that permeates both the artistic message and the collective energy of the concerts». These values are vividly embodied in the group's artistic expression, which roots these ancestral heritages in a thoroughly contemporary creative process. This innovative artistic approach has catapulted Meteor Airlines to international acclaim. In 2024, the band performed in Austin, Texas, at the prestigious South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival, followed by shows across the United Kingdom in Edinburgh, Birmingham, London, Liverpool, and Manchester. In July of the same year, the band was honored with the Best Artistic Practice Award in the Mediterranean region during the CREACT4MED Best Practices Award ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.
