DR ‹ › This week in Fez, 939 workers were selected to take part in the red fruit harvest campaign in Spain's Huelva region. The selection was overseen by the Association of Strawberry Producers and Exporters in Huelva (Freshuelva), under the recruitment-at-origin system (GECCO) approved by Spain's Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration. The selected workers are expected to travel progressively to Huelva starting in March, joining workers who participated in previous harvest seasons. The arrival process has already begun and will continue through the end of February. Freshuelva President Francisco José Gómez stressed that coordination between Moroccan and Spanish authorities remains a key factor in the success of the operation. He noted that the selected workers are essential to meeting seasonal labor needs and to maintaining Huelva's position as a global reference in red fruit production. The initiative falls within the recruitment-at-origin model, which aims to ensure legal certainty, protect workers' rights, and promote organized and circular migration. This framework contributes to the stability of the red fruit sector and the continuity of agricultural activity in the region.
