Morocco has been selected as the country in focus at the upcoming European Film Market (EFM), taking place from February 12 to 18 as part of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, Variety. The EFM praised Morocco's «rich cinematic heritage» and «thriving creative community», describing the Kingdom as «a dynamic bridge between Africa, the Arab world and Europe». Festival director Tricia Tuttle highlighted Moroccan filmmakers such as Nabil Ayouch, Faouzi Bensaïdi, Asmae El Moudir, Halima Ouardiri and Maryam Touzani, whose works, she said, «draw on deep cultural roots while speaking to contemporary issues with originality and power». The market also noted Morocco's growing appeal as a filming destination, citing its varied landscapes and productions such as «Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny» and Nicolas Cage's «Lord of War» sequel. According to the EFM, incentives like a 30% rebate, VAT exemption, and up to 80% equipment rental discounts have strengthened Morocco's position as one of the most attractive film hubs in the region.
