DR ‹ › The management of AS FAR has strongly condemned what it described as the «unsportsmanlike conduct» of certain Al Ahly supporters, including the throwing of bottles. The club said such behavior poses a direct threat to the safety of players and technical staff. In an official statement, the club announced that it has taken the necessary steps by formally contacting the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It called for the enforcement of the sanctions provided under existing regulations «to uphold the principles of sportsmanship and ensure the safety of all parties involved». The match, which ended in a goalless draw, was overshadowed by incidents attributed to sections of the Egyptian club's supporters. Water bottles were reportedly thrown at AS FAR players, and their access to the dressing rooms was obstructed. Moroccan fans were also targeted in similar bottle-throwing incidents. Earlier, CAF had sanctioned AS FAR following the first leg against Al Ahly on November 28. After disturbances during that match, the club was handed a two-match stadium ban in continental competitions, to be played behind closed doors, along with financial penalties totaling $100,000.
