Archive photo / DR ‹ › The Polisario representative in Brazil has disregarded a directive issued on March 22 by Oubi Bachir, an advisor to Brahim Ghali responsible for natural resources. Bachir had urged Sahrawis to steer clear of showing solidarity with Iran, citing the «interests of the national cause». Contrary to this call, Mohamed Moulay Ali attended a pro-Iran meeting on Tuesday, March 23, which also supported former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who was captured by the United States on January 3. The event, hosted by Brazilian far-left groups, was themed as an «anti-imperialist meeting and solidarity with struggling peoples». The venue was decorated with flags representing the Polisario, Palestine, Cuba, and Iran. During the gathering, a participant lauded «Iran's resilience and the Islamic revolution's role in resisting external pressures», while condemning the «assassination of leaders, military chiefs, and civilians by Washington and Tel Aviv's aggression since February 28». The meeting concluded with a statement denouncing the attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran since February 28. In his appeal, Oubi Bachir stressed that «every publication, no matter how insignificant it may appear, has the potential to escalate tensions that the Moroccan occupation seeks to exploit to tarnish the image of the Polisario Front, fabricate allegations against it, and undermine its standing, legitimacy, and negotiating capacity».
