Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad / Ph. MAP ‹ › On Thursday, Morocco issued a strong condemnation of the «Iranian aggressions against the brotherly Arab countries in the region», reinforcing the stance that Rabat has consistently maintained since the beginning of this month. During a press briefing alongside his Czech counterpart, Petr Macinka, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, underscored that «the unfolding events in the Gulf should not divert our attention from the alarming situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank». Bourita expressed Morocco's dismay over the «threats to regional stability» posed by «legislative measures, the expropriation of Palestinian lands, and the actions of Israeli settlers». He emphasized that «stability in Palestine» is crucial for achieving «regional stability». Echoing this sentiment, Bourita reiterated Morocco's concern over the unrest affecting both Al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. «The situation is troubling, and we hope for the restoration of peace to facilitate the next phase of peace efforts in the Gaza Strip», he stated. He further highlighted that «the Palestinian issue is not a transient matter but a fundamental component of the peace solution in the region», aligning with the support of King Mohammed VI, president of the Al-Quds Committee, for a fair and enduring resolution. This resolution would enable the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate rights within an independent state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel. The Moroccan foreign minister cautioned that «the situation must not spiral out of control». He stressed that the success of the peace plan in Gaza hinges on stability in the West Bank, warning that any destabilization of the Palestinian authority would be «a blow to any peace solution in Gaza».
