DR ‹ › Following reports that he had given his «verbal consent» to represent the Moroccan national team, Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has confirmed that he has yet to decide on his international future. Speaking on Sunday ahead of France U21's clash with Iceland, the 18-year-old said he is taking his time despite the approaching World Cup. «For now, I haven't made a choice. It's a major decision in a career, so I don't want to rush it», Bouaddi said, adding that there is «no timing» for a final decision. The young midfielder, who captained the France U21 side for the first time in a 5–1 win over Luxembourg, stressed that his choice will be personal, guided by «the heart», while also taking into account his family's views. However, Bouaddi appears to be edging closer to Morocco following a key meeting with head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, earlier in March, during which the federation presented its long-term vision for him. According to Foot Mercato, the discussions were positively received, with Bouaddi giving a verbal agreement in principle to represent Morocco in the future. Bouaddi honed his skills at FC Créteil before joining Lille in 2021, where he signed his first professional contract, later extended until 2029. Known for his maturity and balanced playing style, he stands out for his composure and sharp vision on the field. Regarded as one of the brightest talents of his generation, Bouaddi has already made over 70 appearances for Lille in the French top flight.
