DR ‹ › Morocco has delivered a second consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer to Ghana to support the country's food security efforts. The shipment was officially handed over on April 15 at Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra. Commenting on the move, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described it as a timely boost amid global supply pressures linked to geopolitical tensions. Morocco's Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, said the donation reflects the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening agricultural resilience across Africa. She highlighted the role of OCP Group and its local subsidiary in supporting farmers through training, financing, and initiatives such as a national soil fertility map. The fertilizer, which will be distributed nationwide through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is intended to support Ghana's «Feed Ghana» initiative, aimed at reducing the country's food import bill, estimated at $3 billion in 2024. Beyond immediate support, both countries are discussing plans to establish a local fertilizer production plant, signaling a shift toward long-term industrial cooperation and reduced dependence on imports. Talks are also expanding to include visa facilitation and sports development, with a visa waiver agreement already boosting travel between the two countries. Morocco had previously donated an initial shipment of 2,000 tonnes of fertilizer to Ghana in July 2025.
