DR ‹ › Olympic Safi's journey in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an end with a 1-1 draw against USM Alger on Sunday evening at the El Massira Stadium in Safi, during the second leg of the semi-final. From the outset, the Safi team dominated possession, clearly intent on gaining the upper hand against a well-organized Algerian side, which posed a threat on the counterattack and was eager to open the scoring. Olympic Safi maintained relentless offensive pressure on the USM Alger defense, particularly through Imad Khannouss in the 29th minute, whose shot was deflected for a corner by goalkeeper Oussama Benbot. Imad Serbout also left his mark with an attempt in the 32nd minute, but he couldn't find the back of the net. On the Algerian side, Dramane Kamagaté nearly caught OCS off guard in the 41st minute, but his effort was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Youssef El Motie. Against the run of play, which was largely dominated by OCS, USM Alger took the lead with Ahmed Khaldi converting a penalty in the added time of the first half (45+4th minute). After the break, the Safi team continued their quest for an equalizer, intensifying the pressure on the opposing defense but falling short in the final action. It wasn't until the 75th minute that Moussa Koné leveled the score, reigniting the local team's hopes of qualification. However, this result was insufficient for Olympic Safi to reach the final, following the goalless draw in the first leg. Despite this, it marked a historic first participation for the club. In the other semi-final, played on Friday, Zamalek SC secured their place in the final at the expense of CR Belouizdad, thanks to their 1-0 victory in the first leg, after a 0-0 draw in the return match.
