On Monday, May 12, King Mohammed VI presided over a Council of Ministers at the Royal Palace in Rabat. The monarch stressed the importance of ensuring a «successful livestock replenishment operation at all levels, conducted with professionalism and according to objective criteria». He also emphasized that «the management of support operations should be entrusted to committees under the supervision of local authorities», according to a statement from the spokesperson of the Royal Palace. As a reminder, on February 26, in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful, King Mohammed VI called on Moroccans to forgo the ritual sacrifice for Eid Al-Adha this year. «Our concern to enable you to observe this religious practice under the best conditions must be weighed against our duty to consider the climatic and economic challenges facing our country, which have led to a significant reduction in livestock», he explained in a message read by Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq. «In this context, and given that Eid Al-Adha is a confirmed Sunnah observed when circumstances allow, practicing it under such difficult conditions could cause hardship for a large portion of our people, especially those with limited incomes», the Sovereign added.
