Two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were moderately injured in a car accident on Wednesday in Morocco while participating in the 21st edition of the African Lion military exercise, currently underway in the country. Israeli media reported on Thursday that the IDF confirmed the incident, adding that the soldiers were transferred to a hospital for treatment. Their families have also been informed. African Lion is U.S. Africa Command's largest annual exercise, bringing together 50 nations and 10,000 U.S. troops across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal, and Tunisia. The Moroccan segment officially launched on Monday, May 12, in Agadir and is expected to run through May 23. As previously announced by the U.S. Army, participating nations in the Moroccan phase include Israel, the United Kingdom, France, Cameroon, Portugal, Nigeria, and other African countries. The exercise features a broad training program, including operational planning, joint maneuvers, and NRBC (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological, and Chemical) decontamination, as well as humanitarian and civil assistance initiatives.
