The European Union spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Nabila Massrali, reaffirmed on Friday that «neither the EU nor any of its member states recognize the 'SADR'». Her statement came in response to a question regarding the upcoming EU–African Union ministerial meeting, scheduled for next Wednesday in Brussels. Massrali recalled that the EU–AU ministerial meetings are jointly chaired and organized by the European Union and the African Union. She made it clear that any potential presence of this entity at the meeting would be at the initiative of the African Union, not the EU—thereby denying that the so-called «SADR» had been invited by the European Union. In this context, she reiterated the EU's well-established position: «Neither the EU nor any of its member states recognize the 'RASD'». She also stressed that the possible participation of this entity in the ministerial meeting «has no bearing on this position».
