Seddik Ait Idder, a municipal councilor from the Unified Socialist Party and representative of the residents of the Aslim neighborhood in Agdz, has strongly condemned the filming of scenes from an American movie inside the neighborhood's old palace (Ksar) an action carried out without prior notification or consultation with the residents. He has called for urgent intervention from regional authorities. In an official letter addressed to the governor of Zagora province, Ait Idder expressed the residents' discontent after they were taken by surprise on June 2nd when a foreign film crew entered the palace to prepare for shooting, with no coordination with local representatives or property owners. The councilor emphasized that the palace serves as a vital passageway used daily by locals to access their fields, making any artistic activity or filming a violation of residents' privacy and a disruption to their daily routines. He also underscored the palace's historical and social importance to the community. Ait Idder criticized what he described as a «systematic exclusion» from the decision-making process, noting that landowners were not consulted about the filming, a breach of local customs and an infringement on residents' rights. He further revealed that «disturbing» reports suggest certain parties may have financially benefited from granting permission for the filming without the residents' knowledge. He called for a thorough and transparent investigation, with legal repercussions if these allegations are confirmed. The letter concludes with a plea for the governor to intervene immediately to halt the filming scheduled for June 13th, in order to prevent potential tensions, preserve social harmony, and respect the wishes of the community.
