A heatwave accompanied by the chergui wind, hot and dry wind coming from the Sahara Desert, is expected to affect several provinces across Morocco from Wednesday through Monday, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 46°C, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced in a weather alert bulletin. On Wednesday, temperatures between 40°C and 45°C are forecast in the provinces of Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Smara, Boujdour, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab, according to the DGM's orange-level alert. On Thursday, similar temperatures (40°C to 45°C) are expected in the provinces of Tata, Taroudant, Zagora, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Smara, and Guelmim. From Friday to Monday, the heatwave will intensify, with temperatures ranging from 42°C to 46°C in Chichaoua, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khemisset, Youssoufia, Fquih Ben Salah, Larache, Ouezzane, Béni Mellal, Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Smara, Tata, Taroudant, Zagora, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Settat. During the same period, temperatures between 38°C and 42°C are expected in the provinces of Berrechid, Essaouira, Mediouna, Nouaceur, Khouribga, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Meknès, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, and Benslimane. Meanwhile, slightly lower but still high temperatures ranging from 33°C to 38°C are forecast in Khenifra, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inzegane-Ait Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Rabat, El Jadida, Al Haouz, Azilal, and El Hajeb, the DGM added.
