Glovo delivery drivers in Morocco are staging a protest this Monday in Casablanca to denounce worsening working conditions and to oppose the use of a distorted map of the Sahara on the delivery platform's app. The Spanish company has come under growing criticism in recent weeks, as drivers have held several demonstrations, threatening a work stoppage if the map is not corrected. Tensions have also escalated between drivers and Glovo's Moroccan branch, which they are urging to «respect the right to unionize». The drivers highlight the heavy financial burden they shoulder alone, covering the costs of their motorcycles, insurance, fuel, and essential work gear like jackets and helmets, without any support from the company. They also point to low pay that fails to cover basic expenses, compounded by the lack of health insurance or accident coverage. This protest is not their first. Since early July, delivery drivers have been staging collective actions and say they will continue to mobilize until their demands are met.
