The African and Diaspora Cinematic Arts Academy has chosen Nisrin Erradi and Youssef Kadir to represent Morocco at the 10th edition of the Sotigui Awards, scheduled for November 12-15, 2025, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Morocco will be vying for honors in four categories at this prestigious event, which celebrates the talents of African actors both on the continent and in the diaspora. Among representatives from 19 other countries, Nisrin Erradi has been nominated for the coveted Sotigui d'Or and is also in contention for the 2025 African Public Sotigui. Erradi is further recognized with a nomination for Best Actor in North Africa, where she will compete alongside Sammy Lechea from Algeria and Fatma Sfar from Tunisia, thanks to her performance in Nabil Ayouch's latest film, «Everybody Loves Touda». Meanwhile, Youssef Kadir is in the running for Best African Rising Star, competing against Pape Aly Diop from Senegal and Yassine Samouni from Tunisia, for his role in «The Blue Lake» by Daoud Oulad Syad. The Sotigui Awards focus their selections on the credibility and quality of performances, as well as the social and emotional impact of the roles portrayed. In the days leading up to the awards ceremony, attendees can look forward to a four-day event packed with professional activities, including panel discussions, roundtables, masterclasses, networking sessions, and film screenings followed by Q&As, culminating in gala evenings. This special anniversary edition of the Sotigui Awards is themed: «African Cinema Facing the Challenges of Sexual Harassment: From Indignation to Action». The organizers aim to move beyond awareness toward concrete action, advocating for an ethical, safe, and inclusive film industry. The goal is also to break the silence and foster a collective awakening across the sector.
