Sion Assidon, a prominent human rights activist and leading figure in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, has been admitted to intensive care at a private clinic in Mohammedia. The former political prisoner underwent delicate brain surgery on Monday evening after being found unconscious at his home. Assidon, who serves as deputy national coordinator of the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization, is widely known for his staunch opposition to normalization with Israel. Born in 1948 in Casablanca to a Jewish family, he is also recognized for his far-left political positions. In response to his critical condition, the NGO's National Secretariat expressed deep concern, urging «the competent authorities to inform the public of the results of the ongoing investigation». The organization also pledged to closely monitor the case until the truth is revealed about what it described as a serious and mysterious incident.
