The Regional Judicial Police Department in Tangier has launched a judicial investigation, under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office, as of Wednesday evening, August 13th. This probe aims to dismantle a transnational criminal network implicated in an attempt to smuggle cocaine shipments originating from Latin America through the Tangier Med Port. A security source revealed that the investigation follows a successful operation by security services at Tangier Med Port on Wednesday, where they intercepted an attempt to smuggle 47 slabs of cocaine. The seized drugs, weighing a total of 52 kilograms and 296 grams, were concealed within the refrigeration system of a shipping container on a foreign vessel traveling from Brazil via Morocco. Preliminary chemical tests conducted at the port confirmed the substance as cocaine. Samples have been dispatched to the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police to ascertain the purity of the confiscated cocaine. Simultaneously, the Interpol office in Rabat has been enlisted to liaise with counterparts in both the ship's country of origin and its intended destination, aiming to uncover the full international scope of the criminal network behind this operation.
