The mystery surrounding the death of young shepherd Mohamed Bouslikhen, which occurred in the commune of Aghbalou in Midelt province, has taken a new turn with the case now reclassified as murder. The lawyer representing the victim's parents, Sabri Lhou, announced that the first hearing in the investigation for premeditated murder against unknown perpetrators has been scheduled for August 28, 2025. In a statement on his Facebook page, he explained that the family had granted him «a special, authenticated power of attorney to appeal to His Majesty the King within the framework of his constitutional powers to safeguard individual and collective rights and freedoms», as well as «to communicate with national, regional, and international organizations» and «to establish a defense committee and undertake coordination duties». The case dates back to last June, when the body of Mohamed Bouslikhen was discovered in Aghbalou with a rope around his neck. In a press release issued on July 9, 2025, the Public Prosecutor at the Errachidia Court of Appeal confirmed that judicial investigations had been launched as soon as the body was found. The initial autopsy concluded that the cause of death was strangulation by rope, with no evidence of sexual or physical violence.
