The Grand Stadium of Agadir is ready to host major events, assured Hicham Allouli, regional director of the National Company for the Construction and Management of Sports Facilities (SONARGES), on Monday in Agadir. Like other Moroccan stadiums, the Grand Stadium of Agadir, currently undergoing renovations in two phases, is already prepared for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2025), Allouli told MAP. The first phase focuses on preparing the stadium for Afcon 2025, while the second will expand and modernize the venue in line with FIFA standards for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. Planned works include fully covering the stadium and increasing capacity from 41,800 seats to 46,000 by 2030. «The first phase, now nearly complete, includes exterior improvements that expanded parking capacity from 2,600 to 4,100 spaces», Allouli explained. Other upgrades include reinforcing the outer fence, installing new ticketing points, and replacing the turf on both training fields and the main pitch. All technical facilities have also been modernized to improve the stadium's performance during major events, while the locker rooms have been renovated and upgraded. The second phase will add a 360° panoramic roof and enhanced VIP areas to bring the venue fully in line with FIFA requirements. Inaugurated in 2013, the Grand Stadium of Agadir is a modern facility covering 32 hectares, located just 15 minutes from the city center and 30 minutes from the airport.
