During the opening of the PJD's general secretariat meeting on Saturday, September 13, Abdelilah Benkirane focused his speech on the "consequences" of the Israeli attack on Qatar. "I am very pessimistic," he told the assembly. "In the wake of this aggression, our safety is compromised. What happened to Qatar could easily happen to other nations, even those that have normalized relations with Israel," Benkirane asserted. In a direct message to Arab leaders, the PJD's secretary-general cautioned: "While Arab citizens feel their security is under threat, you stand to lose your thrones. If people no longer feel safe, the social contract binding them to their rulers will be broken, prompting them to seek alternatives. This is my firm belief, and it is the nature of politics." Benkirane emphasized that he is not calling on Arab leaders to "declare war" on Israel. Instead, he urged them to "sever diplomatic ties" with the Israeli state. "And if this step is too far, at least express your disapproval by summoning Israeli ambassadors," he advised. "The Israelis disregard statements of condemnation. I hope that during the extraordinary Arab League congress (scheduled for this Sunday, September 14 in Doha), you will take decisive actions to demonstrate that you are not complicit with this state or this entity known as Israel." Abdelilah Benkirane In his address, Benkirane praised Qatar as a "courageous and generous state." It should be noted that the Party of the Lamp has already condemned the Israeli strike on Doha.
