Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, is currently on an official visit to Turkey, leading a high-level security delegation. This visit coincides with his participation in the International Forum for Internal Security Equipment and Technological Innovations, known as «IGEF 2025», taking place in Ankara from September 18 to 20. According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, Hammouchi's visit comes at the official invitation of the Turkish authorities. During his stay, he met with his Turkish counterpart, Mahmoud Demirtas, the Director General of the Turkish National Police. Their discussions focused on evaluating and enhancing bilateral security cooperation, as well as devising strategies to bolster joint efforts to ensure safety, stability, and counteract shared security threats and challenges. The statement further detailed that the discussions covered a range of security issues, including the challenges posed by illegal immigration and its links to organized crime networks. They also explored ways to support the successful organization of international events Morocco is set to host soon, specifically the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol in Marrakech in November 2025, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Portugal and Spain.
