Spanish authorities have deported a Moroccan national after rejecting his request for international protection, despite his repeated attempts to block the decision. He claimed that he faced persecution in Morocco for taking part in pro-Palestine protests. According to Spanish media, a Civil Guard patrol intercepted a boat in the Strait of Gibraltar in December 2024 carrying 12 undocumented migrants, including the man in question. He was later transferred to a foreign detention center in Murcia, where he awaited the execution of a deportation order issued by the Directorate General of Police. While in detention, the Moroccan migrant applied for asylum in an effort to secure international protection. His request was denied, and his name was added to the list of deportees scheduled for a flight from Madrid–Barajas Airport to Morocco. In a last attempt, he appealed to Spain's National Court, filing an urgent request to suspend the deportation and warning that returning to Morocco would put his life in «serious and real danger». Despite this, the deportation was ultimately carried out.
