Local authorities in Inzegane–Aït Melloul reported that Royal Gendarmerie officers in Lqliâa were forced to use their service weapons on Wednesday evening, October 1, 2025, in self-defense during a violent assault on their post aimed at seizing ammunition and weapons. According to the same source, groups of individuals attacked the facility by pelting it with stones and attempting to storm it. Security forces initially repelled them using tear gas. However, the attackers regrouped in larger numbers, armed with knives, and launched a second assault that enabled them to break into the post, seize a vehicle and four motorcycles belonging to the gendarmerie, set fire to the vehicle and part of the building, and attempt to capture weapons and equipment. Faced with this escalation, gendarmerie officers resorted to their service weapons in legitimate self-defense, leaving two attackers dead from gunshot wounds and several others injured. A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine all the circumstances of the incident, identify those involved, and pursue the necessary legal actions.
