In response to the recent youth-led «Gen Z 212» protests, the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights (OMDH) issued a statement urging authorities to stop judicial prosecutions tied to peaceful demonstrations. «The organization calls for the immediate halt of all prosecutions related to peaceful gatherings and protests, and for the release of detained youth, while ensuring fair trial guarantees for those still facing charges», the OMDH said in a statement on Thursday. It stressed the importance of respecting freedom of assembly and peaceful protest as enshrined in international conventions and the Moroccan Constitution, and rejected «all forms of violence regardless of its source». The group also urged the government to «open serious and responsible dialogue channels with youth movements, providing clear and urgent responses to demands for education, health, and jobs», while inviting public media to give more space to youth voices. To facilitate this, the OMDH announced that it is «opening its doors to young people to listen to them» and making its premises available as a forum for dialogue with all stakeholders on the social and economic rights of youth.
